Having new siding installed on your home can be a wise decision. It can improve curb appeal, offer a bit of insulation for your home, and has a great return on investment. While the most common siding choice is vinyl, fiber cement siding is a fantastic alternative as it is versatile, attractive, and comes in a number of great colors that are less prone to fading than vinyl. However, fiber cement is a bit more costly than vinyl.

To give you a rough estimate of how much you might expect to pay to have your house sided in fiber cement, the editors at Homewyse have written an article, Cost to Install Fiber Cement Siding, that we believe you will find useful. This article starts with an estimation calculator, which was updated in January of 2016 to reflect current costs. Simply enter your ZIP code and the approximate amount of siding you will need, in square feet, to get your estimates. The estimates are broken down into four categories:

  • Cost of the fiber cement siding
  • Cost of labor for installation
  • Cost of siding materials and supplies, such as fasteners and caulking
  • Cost of job-related specialty equipment, such as pneumatic finish nailers and jigsaws

Homewyse does advise that the estimates given by the calculator are ballpark figures and should not be used as quotes from actual contractors. Furthermore, “Homewyse strongly recommends that you contact reputable professionals for an accurate assessment of work required and costs for your project before making any decisions or commitments,” they write.
