However, she also lists a number of cons including:

  • Gutter guard installation can be costly.
  • Your gutters will still need to be cleaned periodically, albeit not as frequently.
  • Some gutter guards actually increase ice accumulation on your gutters.
  • There are a number of inferior products on the market so research is necessary.
  • Gutter guards can be easily dented, thus reducing their effectiveness.
  • Gutter guards add weight to your gutter systems, which can cause sagging.
  • Tree seeds can get caught in the gutter guard and take root.
